Joining MineTown

Connect to play.minetown.net in Minecraft Java. MineTown is a Towny survival server with jobs, player shops, and a friendly building community.

You'll spawn in a central hub with portals to the survival world. Read the rules and tutorial signs before heading out to find your plot.

Towny System

Create a town with /town new <name> or join an existing town. Towns claim land, collect taxes, and provide community protection. Mayors manage residents, permissions, and expansion.

Joining an established town is recommended for new players — you get protection, shared resources, and community guidance. Creating your own town requires gold and active recruitment.

Jobs Plugin

Pick a job with /jobs join — Miner, Farmer, Woodcutter, Builder, Hunter, and more. Earn bonus money for performing job-related actions while playing normally.

Level up your job for higher payouts. Combine multiple income sources: job earnings, /shop selling, and player shop trading. Jobs are the most reliable early income on MineTown.

Player Shops and Trading

Set up chest shops at your town plot or the community market. Sell surplus crops, mined ores, enchanted tools, and crafted items.

Check competitor prices before listing. Specialized items (enchanted books, rare blocks, potions) sell better to players than NPC shops. MineTown's market district at spawn is always active.

Building Community

MineTown emphasizes building quality and community projects. Towns compete for "best town" awards with themed builds, organized districts, and collaborative projects.

Follow town building guidelines — no dirt boxes or floating structures in established towns. WorldEdit may be available for trusted builders through the website application.

Economy Tips

Balance job income with passive farms. Build auto-farms (sugar cane, cactus, iron) at your town plot for AFK income. Reinvest profits into better tools and larger farms.

Watch for economy events — double job XP weekends and shop sell bonus days. Check /events and the MineTown Discord for schedules.

Nations and Alliances

Towns can band together into nations for shared chat, allies, and territory. Nation leaders coordinate town recruitment and inter-town trade agreements.

Join a nation for diplomatic protection and trade networks. Nation wars are rare on MineTown but add excitement during event seasons.
